Stage Staff Royal

Assembles and disassembles equipment and props for all shows and activities in the Cruise
Director’s Division by performing the following essential duties and responsibilities.

All duties and responsibilities are to be performed in accordance with Royal Caribbean
International’s Gold Anchor Standards, SQM standards, USPH guidelines, environmental,
and safety policies.
Each shipboard employee may be required to perform all functions in various venues and
throughout the ship.
All Class Vessels:
1. In accordance with Royal Caribbean International’s philosophy of Anchored in
Excellence , each employee conducts oneself in a professional and courteous
manner at all times. This consists of physical and verbal interactions with guests
or fellow shipboard employees and/or in the presence of guest contact and crew
areas.
2. Reads stage layout specifications and blueprints and confers with Stage and
Production Manager to determine type and location of sets, props, scenery, lighting,
and sound equipment required for specific event.
3. Gathers and transports props and equipment to designated areas throughout the vessel
and
ports of call. Assembles props and equipment for a variety of Cruise Director’s Division
activities such as, but not limited to, bingo, horse racing, sports award presentations, poolgames, Ship Shape activities, etc. Climbs ladder or scaffolding to ceiling grid, crawls
and
balances on beams, inserts ends of cables or ropes through ceiling grid, and attaches
cables to scenery, curtains, equipment, support pipes, and counterbalance weights.
Disassembles props and equipment at the end of the event or activity and returns items
to storage area.
4. Positions lighting fixtures on and around stage area, clamps light fixtures to supports,
connects electrical wiring from fixtures to power source and control panel, positions
sound equipment on and around stage area, and connects electrical lines to power
source and mixing console. May operate sound console and/or light boards
equipment.
5. Pulls cables that raise and lower scenery, curtains, and equipment and operates lighting
and sound equipment during rehearsals and performances, following audio or visual cues.
6. Participates in the assembly and disassembly of equipment and props for special group
functions such as, but not limited to, charters, affinity, promotional, incentive,
presentations, and various theme night arrangements.
7. Assembles and disassembles pre and post show stage and backstage props and
equipment. May assist cast members with costume changes. Returns items to storage
area. Performs minor carpentry and painting maintenance on equipment.
8. Maintains inventory of various prize lockers, office supplies and consumable items
utilized in the backstage areas. Coordinates with the Activities Manager, Central
Stores and Provision area when requisitioning supplies.
9. Participates in the loading and unloading of supplies and equipment on tenders routed to
the private islands.
10. Assists the Stage and Production Manager in the loading and unloading of luggage
and equipment for those in the Guest Entertainment Program.
11. As needed, assembles and disassembles video equipment and may operate equipment.
12. Operates spotlight equipment for production shows according to instructions as needed,
when stage staff are required to perform duties backstage. Attends mandatory rehearsals
as required.




Minimum experience and qualification requirements for position:
  • One to two years experience in the assembly and disassembly of stage equipment and props
  • Ability to speak English clearly, distinctly and cordially with guests.

Contract length: 29 weeks on / up to 60 days off
